Welcome Back To School

Welcome back to the start of another year here at Today In School. This year I want to bring a different voice to the blog. Last semester and over the summer, we focused primarily on the big picture or educational hot topics. This year I’m sure we’ll keep up with current research, educational reform and pedagogical debates but I also want to give a voice to the day-to-day task of being an educator.

So often in the rush to take care of our classrooms and caseloads we miss the opportunity to reflect and peer in on what our colleagues are accomplishing. There are so many great things occurring my building and buildings across the country. There are also teachers struggling to reach students and who need a boost of encouragement. I think, together, that we can be the voice to sound off on what is being accomplished in our schools and how we can help other teachers reach their full potential.

I want to invite each of you to contribute your own unique voice to Today In School, and consider sharing your experiences with a broad audience. It doesn’t matter if you are a teacher, counselor, administrator, specialist, student or parent. If something exciting is happening in your school, we need to share that with others. If exemplarily learning is occurring in your classroom, it maybe what inspires another teacher to greatness.

If you are interested in contributing an article or a summary of your day in school, please contact me!

Welcome back. It’s going to be a great year.
